Airport Performance and Efficiency Assessment: A New Approach
(Conference Proceeding)
Conference: | The 18th ATRS World Conference |
Year: | 2014 |
Location: | Bordeaux, France |
Abstract
Airport performance and efficiency assessment is performed by several approaches and this work aims not only summarize the most important ones in use but also propose a new approach based on Multi Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA).
A literature review about several approaches and its trends to assess airport performance and efficiency based on operational and financial data is made, either to benchmark each infrastructure with direct competitors or the same infrastructure throughout several years.
The literature review allows identifying not only the major advantages and disadvantages of each approach, but also a still unexplored field to conduct the processes of benchmark and/or self–benchmark of airports using a MCDA tool.
Also this work evidences the advantages and disadvantages of a new approach to assess airport performance and efficiency based on MCDA, and which allows an easy engagement of all stakeholders in such complex processes and within a global perspective: from air and land sides of the airports, and from its catchment area.
